Author Visit - August 2007
MATT
OTTLEY
- This year Balgowlah Heights Public School enjoyed a visit from illustrator Matt Ottley in August.
Students in Kindergarten to Year 2 enjoyed his colourful demonstration
of how he produces his artworks.

- Things that Matt would love to
do
- Invent a personal flying machine.
Convince all people that no one has to kill snakes or be cruel and
disrespectful to any non-human animal.
- Awards
- Matt has won both an honour book
award, and a short-listing for two of his books in the CBCA awards, and has
won various prizes as a painter. He doesn't like entering competitions
however, because he feels that our society is too focused on competition, and
not enough on compassion.
STEPHEN

- Balgowlah Heights Public School also enjoyed a visit from author Stephen Measday in August.

an award-winning scriptwriter and is also well known for his adventurous and

Bacon, Roger Bacon Reporting, Bringing Home

have been listed as Notable Books by the Children's Book Council of Australia.
He has written a total
of fourteen children's and young adult books and has been published in
Australia, the United States, France, the U.K., Indonesia and South Korea.
