What is the P&C?
The P&C (Parents and Citizens'
Association) is constituted under the NSW Education Act to:
- Promote the interests of the school by
bringing parents, citizens, pupils and teaching staff into close
co-operation
- Assist in procuring equipment and
resources
- Assist both teaching and executive
staff in the development of the school policy.
What does the P&C do?
Current activities of the P&C
include:
- Bush regeneration, landscaping and
maintenance of the school grounds and gardens
- Organising a variety of social, FUN
and fundraising events.
The Band Program and
Arabanoo (Before
and After School care) were also established through the support of the
P&C.
The school has an
active Parents and Citizens' Association which meets during term
time on the
fourth Monday of each month in the school library (from 7.30 pm to
9.30pm).
This group discusses school policy matters and provides
financial support to supplement those grants made by the
State and Federal Governments.
We look forward to seeing you at the
next meeting!

Fundraising Events
Fundraising is vital and entirely aimed to support
the funds needed for the Budget (this year's target being $15,000).
It is also a way of bringing the School community together to
have fun whilst directly helping the School. It is a great
way to get
involved in the School, meet people and learn what is happening behind
the scenes.
Volunteers are always
needed, wanted and greatly appreciated. This
School has a proud history of enthusiastic and energetic event
organisers and helpers. The
weekly School
Newsletter details what is currently happening or being
planned.
If you wish to help please just contact the person running the
event – you will be welcomed with open arms.
The School Building Fund
The BHPS P&C School Building Fund is a tax
deductible fund set up and administered by the P&C. Contributions
to the fund are treated as donations
and are 100% tax deductible.
Donations to the fund are on a voluntary basis.
An invitation to donate to the
fund is made at the same time as
the P&C voluntary contributions are sent out (Term 1).
Donations can however, be made at any time and are very welcome.
To maintain the tax-deductible nature of the
donations to the fund, monies can only be used for the acquisition,
construction or maintenance of a building used as a school.
This year as part of the ongoing commitment of the
P&C, architectural plans have been developed so that future works
can be carried out as monies become available. These plans provide the
school with the capacity for growth in the best possible way and there
has been ongoing discussions and consultations as to the time frame of
works, prioritising them in stages.

Master Plans to gain a thorough insight into the proposed future
development of our school.

P&C Voluntary Contribution
1
child at school.................. $200.00
2
children.........................
$300.00
3
or more children................ $400.00
Every year we ask each family to make a voluntary
contribution to the P&C to enable the budget to be met.
These fees are not in any way related to the
School fees that
are charged by the School. These
funds are raised by the
P&C and are directly used to support the
extra programs, services and running
of the school.
The expenditure simply would not occur if not for the continued
financial support of the school community.
The majority of funds
are passed directly to the School for expenditure on educational
priorities. Of the $65,000
committed to the school in 2004 $9,000 was spent on Library and
Literacy resources, $6,600 on Computer Technology and $49,000 on
funding additional teaching positions. By funding additional teaching
staff, BHPS is able to provide specialist support for children
experiencing learning difficulties, or for children just needing to “catch
up” in a specific learning area. This
also allows staff to utilise additional class time for extension of
talented and gifted students, thereby benefiting the whole school.
Letters requesting payment of the contribution
are sent home during Term 1. Please
do not pay anything until you receive this letter.
As in past years we hope for a great response and thank everyone
for their contribution.
B'ights
The canteen, in the Hall Kitchen, is
open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays each week of term.
We have a very busy Canteen, which
generates valuable funds for the school. It usually needs four
volunteers in addition to the supervisor, to operate smoothly. The
volunteer roster operates on a four weekly cycle, but even one day a
term is a great help.
Parents volunteer
to collect lunch orders via the roster system of volunteers
for canteen throughout the year. Volunteers also contribute
their time at the canteen prior to lunch time to pack the
orders for each class and stay open to sell items
at lunch
time for the Primary students. Volunteers are also needed for ice block
sales on the Infants Campus. Click here
to see the duties of ice block volunteers. Refer to the
weekly School
Newsletter for the
Volunteer Roster.
To volunteer please ring the canteen on
9948 7951.
